Grant Writing Intern
Reports to:
Director of Development
Job Summary:
Our organization is searching for a reliable, flexible, and task-oriented intern who is an experienced writer. The intern will work directly with the Director of Development and will be taught how to manage the grant submission process, including: identifying a funding opportunity, discerning for mission compatibility between organizations, nurturing funding relationships, applying for a grant, and appropriate follow-up when funding is given. The intern will be given opportunities to manage entry-level grant applications and will be responsible for fulfilling tasks that will support the Director of Development’s management of significant funding relationships as needed.
The ideal candidate is highly self-motivated, professional, capable of managing their workload once trained and prioritizing tasks in a fast-paced environment. To be successful in this role, you should be well-organized, have great time management skills, be ready to learn and open to constructive feedback. The intern will develop a clear understanding of the goals and objectives of the Turner Foundation in relation to its mission and progress. The intern will also develop functional knowledge of using the Salesforce platform for Development purposes.
Working Environment / Minimum Physical Requirement:
Must have the physical, visual, and auditory ability to perform the essential duties of the job with or without reasonable accommodations. Requires light physical activity such as phone and computer work. May require walking, driving, light lifting, stooping, crouching, and bending. Background check will be taken upon commencement of internship and results will be submitted to the Turner Foundation office.

Areas of Responsibility:
General Responsibilities:
Support with any projects/tasks requested by Director of Development that supports the overall success of the Turner Foundation
Manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner
Format information for internal and external communication – memos, emails, presentations, reports
Uphold a strict level of confidentiality
Develop and sustain a level of professionalism among staff and clientele
Grant Writing Responsibilities
Support donor engagement and positive relationships with grant-making organizations
Work with the Director of Development to submit timely, accurate, and moving grant
requestsManage grant processes using Salesforce
Work with the Director of Development to accurately report on the impact of past grant making so as to set the foundation up for success in the next grant-making cycle
Support data collection on effectiveness of programs (and other applicable projects) and create reports or signage for potential donors, presentations, advertisement/marketing purposes
Responsible for various tasks as assigned by the Director of Development
Skills and Other Requirements:
Advanced Microsoft Office skills, with an ability to become familiar with organization-specific programs and software
Proficiency in collaboration and delegation of duties
Strong organizational, project management and problem-solving skills with impeccable multi-tasking abilities
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Friendly and professional demeanor
Familiarity with office gadgets and applications (e.g. e-calendars and copy machines)
Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Discretion and confidentiality
High School degree

Details:
Part-time position
Hours: 6-9 hours per week
General job schedule will be in the hours of Monday-Friday 9-5, pending the intern’s
availability.
