Daisy Altamirano Joins the Turner Team!

Daisy Altamirano is excited to begin her role as the new After School Program Coordinator at the Turner Foundation. Daisy grew up in the westside of Santa Barbara, close to The Village and The Lighthouse. She graduated from San Marcos, then moved to the Bay Area to attend UC Berkeley. While pursuing her undergraduate degree Daisy lived in Atlanta, GA for two summers and interned for a large nonprofit. After attending UC Berkeley and receiving her undergraduate degree in political science with a minor in history, she started teaching middle school English in Richmond, CA. While teaching Daisy received her master’s degree in educational policy and administration and teaching credential from Loyola Marymount University. After teaching for three years in the Bay Area, Daisy has moved back to Santa Barbara and strives to work closely with communities to create solutions and plans for inequity issues. Daisy is looking forward to working in the neighborhood she grew up in, and is excited to work towards positive change closer to her home.
