Volunteering on Elings’ Trails

This past weekend, our Junior High students volunteered with the Santa Barbara Mountain Trail Volunteers at Elings Park. They worked on the trails by widening and flattening them out, and making run off pathways in preparation for the next rainfall. If the volunteers did not do this, the rain would create little rivers on the trails, further eroding them and ruining them for future bikers and hikers. The students worked moving and reshaping the dirt for a couple of hours and remarked, “This is fun! A different kind of fun, but still fun!” They enjoyed helping their community and being able to be a part of a volunteer team working together to improve something that so many community members enjoy on a daily basis. Thank you to SBMTV for welcoming us and providing such an awesome day to give back.
